KnowBe4 Expands Email and Chat Security to Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams

KnowBe4 has added Microsoft Teams coverage to its Messaging Security offering, giving companies one place to watch over chats and email. Work messages now move quickly across platforms. Because of that, many firms struggle to spot risks hiding inside daily conversations. The latest update brings Messaging Security closer to how employees already communicate and strengthens Microsoft Teams security in routine work.

Security teams have watched attacks shift toward workplace messaging tools. Employees often trust chat requests without much thought. That habit creates room for phishing protection challenges and social engineering attacks. In many cases, bad actors pose as internal support staff and try to collect passwords or account access. KnowBe4 said organizations often leave Teams settings too open, allowing unknown outsiders to reach employees.

Messaging Security Adds More Control for Security Teams

The platform reviews messages from outside a company and flags risky activity sooner. It also checks weak Microsoft Teams settings that may invite outside contact. Security teams can first review results before turning on automated blocking. At the same time, one shared defense list works across chats and email security. This setup helps teams react faster while keeping workflows simple. As threats change, cybersecurity awareness also becomes easier to support through daily tools.

“KnowBe4 Messaging Security has been launched with the goal of enhancing, not hindering, teamwork,” said Greg Kras, Chief Product Officer at KnowBe4. “This provides organizations with a single, unified console that seamlessly secures both email and chat environments, starting with Microsoft Teams. By removing the uncertainty from chat interactions, we empower employees to collaborate confidently. This ensures that both internal and external collaboration drives business value, rather than introducing new liabilities.”

“We recognized that one layer is not enough to detect and neutralize the numerous advanced phishing threats targeting GMMH day-to-day work,” said Kevin Orritt, Cyber Security Manager at GMMH. “KnowBe4 Defend not only provides an additional layer of defense but also supplements our security awareness training. Defend’s clickable banners allow employees to continuously develop their cybersecurity awareness.”
