Basware Completes Acquisition of Trustpair to Boost Payment Security

Basware

Basware has finalized its acquisition of Trustpair today following an initial agreement announced in August. The major deal unites the invoice lifecycle management leader with a premier payment fraud prevention platform. Consequently, enterprise finance teams can now secure their operations from initial invoice receipt straight to final payment delivery.

It may seem to be an accurate document that receives internal approvals. However, the banking details of the supplier might be forged. Thus, the Basware solution broadens its coverage to address this specific weakness.

Trustpair will continue operating independently without changing its core setup. Furthermore, the company maintains its current platform, customer contracts, and dedicated support teams. It will also keep expanding integrations across various ERP, treasury, procure-to-pay, and payment ecosystems. As a result, clients can deploy Trustpair whether they currently use Basware or another financial platform.

Uniting Invoice Management and Payment Assurance

Together, the two companies deliver a fully unified financial control model. Basware first establishes the validity of an invoice by checking its accuracy and compliance. Meanwhile, Trustpair validates the supplier identity and confirms bank account ownership before any transfer occurs. Thus, businesses gain complete visibility over every disbursement decision across one governed lifecycle.

Modern fraud threats increasingly target vendor identities and bank accounts instead of raw invoice data. Hence, companies must verify supplier data upon onboarding and re-check it prior to releasing funds.

Jason Kurtz, CEO at Basware, commented on the completed acquisition:

“Trustpair has built a distinct capability around one of the most important control challenges facing finance teams today. An invoice can be authentic and accurate, but the financial outcome is still wrong if the payment goes to the wrong account. By bringing Basware’s invoice lifecycle management capabilities together with Trustpair’s payment assurance, we can help customers make that complete financial decision with greater confidence. Since we announced the agreement, customers have told us this is the missing piece they have been waiting for, and that excitement has only grown as we get closer to bringing our capabilities together.”

Baptiste Collot, Co-founder and CEO at Trustpair, added on the acquisition:

“Since announcing our intent to join forces, the market signal has been overwhelmingly clear: finance leaders recognize you can no longer dissociate the invoice from payment assurance without exposing your business to severe fraud. As payment threats become more sophisticated with AI, fraud prevention must be an active, connected layer across the entire invoice and payment lifecycle. While maintaining our independent, system-agnostic approach, we will tap into Basware’s scale, resources, and deep data foundation to innovate faster and continue building on our nine-year legacy of specialist payment assurance.”

For the 6,500+ clients of Basware, the acquisition brings end-to-end security across the entire payment lifecycle. Over time, Basware plans to combine its deep transaction history spanning 2.5 billion invoices with Trustpair’s risk intelligence. Ultimately, this integration helps finance teams spot risk earlier and automate critical payment checks.
