SES Space & Defense Clinches BPA to Deliver Flexible Satellite Connections

Defense

SES Space & Defense won a five-year Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) with the U.S. Space Force’s Space Systems Command. This subsidiary will provide reliable and secure managed satellite services. Consequently, this deal enables the Department of War (DoW) to quickly order global Ku-band connectivity. The technology helps people stay connected and protected. Furthermore, it safeguards them even in the world’s most remote locations.

The blanket purchase agreement creates a new, simple pathway for the military. Specifically, defense teams can quickly secure strong satellite links in remote mission locations. Meanwhile, every connection under the new agreement uses Ku-band satellites. These satellites cover a vast geographic area. Additionally, they are famous for high speed and reliable performance.

Advanced Ku-Band Commercial Satellite Capabilities

The underlying technology includes several distinct features. First, FlexMove offers a satellite service that keeps people connected while moving or stopped. It works effectively even in remote places without cell towers or cellular coverage. Second, FlexGovSecure operates as a security-focused service. It explicitly uses TRANSEC technology to hide transmission signals. This feature protects critical data against active tracking and hacking. Therefore, the DoW can now get fully managed, TRANSEC-protected Ku-band service. Ultimately, this capability improves safety for critical military missions.

Third, FlexAir provides specialized service for aircraft. SES built this capability with help from Satcom Direct Government (SDG), a Gogo company. SDG delivers these FlexAir services through its own Gogo Plane Simple Ku-band terminal.

“Managed services like Flex provide access to advanced SATCOM capabilities without the cost and complexity of maintaining proprietary infrastructure,” said David Broadbent, President and CEO, SES Space & Defense. “The managed service allows our customers to focus on mission objectives while leveraging industry speed, innovation, and efficiency to stay ahead of evolving threats.”

Modernizing Military Satellite Communications

This strategic agreement directly reflects the government’s ongoing efforts. They want to modernize satellite communications procurement. Consequently, the military is moving toward flexible, commercially driven procurement models.

“We’re proud to partner with SES Space & Defense to deliver FlexAir,” said Hayden Olson, Head of SDG. “Our Plane Simple Ku-band antennas and extensive understanding of military expectations and requirements position us to support SES in delivering seamless, resilient, high-speed global connectivity to support mission-driven solutions.”
