GitLab Expands Agentic AI with Automated Security Remediation, Pipeline Setup, and Delivery Analytics

GitLab

GitLab Inc. just released GitLab 18.11 to improve the GitLab Agentic AI features. This update adds AI orchestration to all stages of the software development lifecycle. In particular, it combines security fixes, pipeline setup, and delivery analytics. A lot of developers are having a hard time with the “AI Paradox” right now. Fast code generation often goes faster than systems for security and delivery. So, GitLab 18.11 uses native agents to fill in these gaps. These tools can look at code and security findings right on the platform.

The Agentic SAST Vulnerability Resolution feature is now available to everyone. This is for GitLab Ultimate customers who use the Duo Agent Platform. Statistics show that developers spend eleven hours a month fixing bugs that were found after the software was released. But this GitLab Agentic AI tool looks at true positives right away. Then it makes code changes to fix the problem at its source. This lets teams fix security holes before they go live.

In addition, GitLab 18.11 adds two new foundational agents. The CI Expert Agent automatically finds the languages and frameworks used in a repository. Then it suggests build-and-test pipelines in plain language. The Data Analyst Agent also gives quick visual answers for lifecycle data. Users can easily keep track of how long cycles take and how often they are deployed. This GitLab Agentic AI feature works for all levels of customers.

Scaling AI with Controls That Work

Also, new usage controls let big businesses know how much money they will spend on AI. Now, billing managers can set monthly limits on how much they can spend on credits. Limits on the number of users also stop people from using up the shared pool. These features make sure that costs are predictable while AI is rolled out across the company. A new dashboard gives administrators full access to information.

“Much of the AI investment in software development has focused on writing code faster. The bigger opportunity is what comes next,” said Manav Khurana, chief product and marketing officer at GitLab. “Agents are only as effective as the context they can access. GitLab 18.11 extends our agents deeper into security, pipelines, and delivery analytics, where that context already lives. That’s how GitLab is defining the future of software engineering in the AI era.”
