Gen and Vercel today announced a strategic partnership to embed independent safety checks into the AI skills ecosystem. This collaboration integrates Gen’s Agent Trust Hub with skills.sh, the open directory used by millions of developers on the Vercel platform. The integration will classify each skill by risk level before developers install or execute agent capabilities.
New Safety Ratings for Developers and Users
Gen’s Agent Trust Hub will evaluate security and assign visible risk ratings directly within skills. Each published AI skill will receive one of four classifications: Safe, Low Risk, High Risk, or Critical Risk. These transparent tags will help developers and users understand security risks before using skills.
Industry Leaders on Verification and Transparency
Howie Xu, Chief AI & Innovation Officer at Gen, said:
“AI agents are becoming powerful digital actors,” and “Trust must be built into the ecosystem itself. By partnering with Vercel, we are embedding independent verification directly into the skills layer, helping innovation and safety scale together.” He added the partnership will help safety and innovation “scale together.”
Andrew Qu, Chief of Software at Vercel, stated:
“Developers want to move quickly, and users want confidence,” said Andrew Qu, Chief of Software at Vercel. “This partnership with Gen’s Agent Trust Hub helps ensure that as AI capabilities grow, so does transparency,” Qu noted the partnership will boost transparency as AI capabilities grow.
Expanding Trust in Autonomous AI Skills
AI agents now perform complex tasks like web browsing, API calls, and multi-step workflows. Malicious or poorly designed skills can expose data and create security vulnerabilities. Until now, developers had limited tools beyond metadata or community reputation to judge safety.
Embedding Security Into AI Development Life Cycle
Gen’s threat intelligence and risk modeling will analyze permission requests and behavior anomalies in skills. This verification layer makes trust visible before risk becomes a consequence on the platform. Gen and Vercel aim to make security a first-class part of AI skill development, not an afterthought. The integration reflects shared goals to secure the agentic era while supporting rapid innovation.
