Comcast Business announced the nationwide availability of SecurityEdge Preferred, its most advanced Small Business Cybersecurity solution. The new offering delivers network-native protection designed specifically for small businesses. Moreover, Comcast Business positions it as a comprehensive and cost-effective cybersecurity solution.
SecurityEdge Preferred strengthens Small Business Cybersecurity by operating directly within the Comcast Business network. As a result, businesses can activate protection within minutes. Furthermore, organizations do not need additional hardware, multiple security vendors, or complex deployment processes.
Unlike traditional security products, SecurityEdge Preferred functions inside the connectivity infrastructure businesses already use. Therefore, it can intercept threats at the network edge as traffic enters or leaves the network. This approach provides an architectural advantage that enhances Small Business Cybersecurity while simplifying management.
The growing threat landscape highlights the need for stronger protection. According to Comcast Business’s 2025 Cybersecurity Threat Report, the company analyzed 34.6 billion security events across its network. The report found that cyber threats targeting small businesses reached record levels.
External research supports these findings. Cisco reported that 43 percent of cyberattacks now target small businesses. In addition, the Identity Theft Resource Center’s 2024 Consumer and Business Impact Report found that breach-related financial losses have doubled within two years. Consequently, damages increasingly exceed $500,000.
Many small businesses lack dedicated cybersecurity teams. Moreover, they often cannot access enterprise-grade security technologies. Therefore, Comcast Business developed SecurityEdge Preferred to address these challenges with a simplified approach.
“Security shouldn’t require an IT department to work,” said Christian Nascimento, Senior Vice President, Connectivity and Digital Customer Solutions, Comcast Business. “SecurityEdge Preferred is part of our broader commitment to simplifying how small businesses access and manage critical technology, bringing connectivity and cybersecurity together in an integrated experience they can depend on.”
AI-Powered Protection Strengthens Small Business Security
SecurityEdge Preferred monitors incoming and outgoing traffic in real time. As a result, it blocks malware, ransomware, phishing attacks, and botnet activity before threats reach connected devices. Additionally, AI-powered threat intelligence continuously identifies evolving attack techniques. The platform adapts to emerging risks and improves protection capabilities over time.
Advanced filtering technology blocks malicious IP addresses. Furthermore, it restricts traffic originating from high-risk geographic regions. Application-level controls also prevent unauthorized software from accessing the network. A live dashboard provides real-time visibility into network activity and security threats. Meanwhile, customizable alerts help business owners stay informed about potential risks.
The threat environment remains highly active. For example, SecurityEdge Preferred blocked cyber threats targeting small businesses at an average rate exceeding 230 threats per second during May 2026. These threats included malware, phishing campaigns, botnet communications, and other malicious traffic.
The solution requires only a Comcast Business Internet router. Therefore, businesses can activate protection quickly without specialized IT expertise. Ongoing management also remains straightforward for business owners.
SecurityEdge Preferred costs $40 per month for Comcast Business Internet customers using speeds below 1 Gbps. Meanwhile, Gig+ customers can access the service for $60 per month. Notably, Comcast Business does not require per-seat licenses or annual subscription commitments. The solution is also available through Total Solutions Advantage plans and the “Buy More, Save More” program. Consequently, eligible customers can save up to $30 monthly when bundling qualifying services.
“Our network is what makes this different,” Nascimento continued. “Security that’s embedded in the infrastructure – rather than layered on top of it – means we can stop threats closer to where they originate, at a scale most small businesses could never achieve on their own. That’s what we built this solution to do.”
