Bitdefender and secunet have teamed up to offer sovereign cybersecurity solutions that keep things secure for businesses in Europe. This partnership highlights their dedication to digital sovereignty, providing top-notch cybersecurity while making sure that all data stays within the EU.
Under this partnership, Bitdefender will host its GravityZone platform on secunet’s SysEleven OpenStack Cloud. This will ensure that all configuration, telemetry, and security data are processed and stored in the EU. This setup allows companies to use improved threat prevention, detection, and response without exposing data outside European jurisdiction.
The collaboration targets industries with rigorous compliance needs, such as energy, healthcare, finance, manufacturing, and critical infrastructure. It also expands the reach of Bitdefender’s channel ecosystem. Managed service providers (MSPs) and partners can now deploy and manage GravityZone in the sovereign cloud for clients with strict data residency demands.
Recent concerns over foreign government access to data have pushed many EU organizations to prioritize digital sovereignty over traditional cloud services. By enabling GravityZone to run entirely within Germany in a certified cloud, Bitdefender and secunet help customers meet standards like GDPR, NIS2, DORA, and ISO.
The SysEleven OpenStack Cloud is certified under ISO 27001, IT-Grundschutz, and C5, making it one of the few sovereign cloud providers in Germany with full compliance credentials. Hosting GravityZone there ensures sensitive security data stays within EU borders.
“Companies across Europe require security solutions that deliver advanced detection, prevention, response — yet retain full control over their data,” said Andrei Florescu, President of Bitdefender’s business division. He added that the partnership ensures clients can use state-of-the-art cybersecurity tools while preserving their data sovereignty.
Andreas Rückriegel, CEO of SysEleven and Vice President Cloud at secunet, noted that the deal marks a vital step toward improving digital resilience. He said combining two leading European firms positions businesses and public authorities to operate securely and compliantly.
Why This Partnership Matters for Europe’s Cybersecurity
This collaboration supports Europe’s goal of being tech-independent. It demonstrates that sovereign cybersecurity is no longer just a concept; it is now a practical solution. For organizations wrestling with tight regulations and demands for data sovereignty, this move offers a viable path forward.
