Genea Unveils Genea Video, Adding A Cloud-Native Video Solution to Its Access Control Platform

Access Control

Genea officially launched Genea Video today as its proprietary cloud-native video management platform. The new security solution integrates live streams, recorded playback, AI-powered search, and automated workflows directly into the core platform. Consequently, enterprise users can now manage physical door activity, user credentials, and camera feeds within one unified system. The unified architecture provides organizations with single-sign-on convenience alongside direct support from one dedicated technology partner.

Historically, enterprise organizations purchased Access Control systems and video surveillance tools from separate third-party software vendors. When security incidents occurred at physical entrances, access logs remained separated from the actual camera recordings. Despite the integration of basic features where videos could be viewed along with door alarms, security guards were able to use other interfaces for the software. Searching for past videos, configuring the hardware, and exporting evidence needed additional administrative input.

Genea built and supports Genea Video directly to solve these complex operational bottlenecks. Every video clip links directly to specific physical door events and user badge scans. Furthermore, AI-powered search runs across all connected cameras within the central management portal.

“At Genea, we’re committed to delivering innovative solutions that address our customers’ evolving needs,” said Michael Wong, CEO and President of Genea. “The launch of Genea Video reflects that commitment while reinforcing our core principle of providing end users with the freedom of choice. Customers can continue using their existing video solutions through our open integrations or take advantage of a fully unified experience with Genea Video. By combining AI-powered video intelligence with our cloud-native access control platform, we’re delivering a more powerful, seamless security experience without compromising the flexibility and openness that define Genea.”

Open Hardware Architectures and Flexible Deployment Options

Genea Video fully supports open, non-proprietary camera hardware across two flexible deployment methods. Organizations can deploy the system using the on-site Genea Gateway appliance powered by the NVIDIA Jetson Orin platform. This hardware appliance connects standard RTSP cameras, stores video recordings locally, and processes AI analytics directly at the edge. Therefore, this model suits facilities with pre-existing camera infrastructure or limited internet bandwidth. Alternatively, distributed retail chains can utilize Axis Camera-to-Cloud technology to stream camera video directly without local servers.

The platform launch delivers comprehensive security features to streamline daily monitoring operations:

  • AI Attribute Search: Locates specific targets across all connected camera feeds and within custom sub-frame areas.
  • Event-Linked Footage: Connects each video segment directly to physical Access Control door logs and badge swipes.
  • Integrated Automations: Unifies video monitoring, Access Control rules, and intrusion alarms within one system.
  • Multi-Device Dashboard: Delivers live viewing, recorded playback, and customizable camera walls on web portals and mobile applications.
  • Evidence Export Tools: Simplifies video clip creation and secure file sharing for post-incident investigations.

“Genea has been on the leading edge unifying access control and video for the past decade through our partner integrations. Genea Video takes that single pane of glass to the next level by providing enhanced automation capabilities and AI detection so customers can focus on the signal without the noise,” said Mike Maxsenti, SVP of Product. “Additionally, our approach allows customers not to have to compromise and buy proprietary hardware which means they keep the ultimate flexibility for the life of the system and have more choices of camera types and form factors for different needs.”

By supporting open hardware standards, Genea ensures long-term flexibility across diverse facility environments. Security administrators can choose ideal camera form factors while maintaining total control over their Access Control infrastructure.
