Mitsubishi Electric Introduces  New OT Security Solution for Industrial Equipment

Industrial equipment

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation has unveiled a cutting-edge operational technology security system. The new technology protects modern industrial equipment against growing cyber threats.

Moreover, this system includes high-tech cybersecurity solutions offered by Nozomi Networks. Nozomi Networks is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Electric and was acquired in January 2026. Thus, this collaboration provides top-notch protection technologies right on the factory floor.

Also, this security system enables manufacturers to fortify their hardware systems. As a result, factory managers would be able to work with their plants more reliably. This product is going to be launched commercially in March 2028 and released as an extension of the Nozomi Arc Platform.

Protecting Against Increasingly Severe Threats Within the Industry

At the moment, industries are implementing IoT technology and digital platforms at a fast pace. In light of this digital transformation, OT cybersecurity has become essential for business continuity. Besides that, recent legislation requires higher cybersecurity standards on the international level. For example, the European Cyber Resilience Act compels enterprises to update their industrial infrastructure.

However, managing security across complex facilities remains a major hurdle. Modern plants rely on diverse machinery, controllers, and connected endpoints. Thus, operators struggle to track individual asset status and network traffic. Spotting unusual system behavior quickly often becomes nearly impossible for site managers. Consequently, defending vulnerable industrial equipment against targeted attacks poses a severe operational risk.

Integrated Monitoring and Direct Endpoint Protection

The new software solves these critical challenges through embedded monitoring technology. It integrates Nozomi Arc capabilities directly into heavy-duty industrial equipment. Furthermore, this integration includes Mitsubishi Electric’s popular line of controller products.

As a result, the system offers real-time endpoint protection at the device level. The platform actively delivers comprehensive USB monitoring to prevent local infection vectors. Furthermore, it automates malware detection, threat quarantine, and virus removal routines. The software also simplifies ongoing updates across connected industrial equipment.

This solution will allow industrial equipment manufacturers to have better cybersecurity and make it possible for end-users to run their facilities and machines safely and securely.

This invention will finally provide a safer environment for smart manufacturing facilities around the world. It also protects industrial machinery from the cyber threats posed by the entire globe.
