Resecurity has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding with local law enforcement. Specifically, the agreement partners the company directly with the National Cybercrime Unit of the Ecuadorian National Police. This framework provides technical cooperation for enhancing the prevention, detection, investigation, and prosecution of cybercrimes.
The official document was signed by Jorge Chungandro, who is the Business Development Manager at Resecurity, along with Lieutenant Colonel Héctor Gonzalo García Cataña. At present, Lieutenant Colonel García Cataña is heading the National Cybercrime Unit. This framework pertains specifically to the technical cooperation with CiberPOL as opposed to the entire national police force.
It will be based on improving the technical capacities of the National Cybercrime Unit through shared intelligence. Also, Resecurity will offer technical assistance and artificial intelligence analytics.
The agreement also establishes comprehensive training programs, practical exercises, and technical workshops for investigative personnel. Jorge Chungandro emphasized the critical need for global intelligence sharing to fight modern digital threats.
“Effective cybercrime investigations depend on timely intelligence, trusted cooperation, and continuously evolving technical expertise,” said Jorge Chungandro, Business Development Manager for Latin America at Resecurity. “Through this Memorandum of Understanding, Resecurity is contributing its cyber threat intelligence expertise, specialized technologies, and practical knowledge that help strengthen investigative capabilities and support Ecuador’s efforts to address increasingly sophisticated cybercrime.”
Strengthening Regional Defense Infrastructure
Cybercrime remains a continuously increasing challenge to the operations of governments, organizations, and citizens in Latin America. A robust defense strategy through a combination of active law enforcement requirements and global threat intelligence can therefore prove useful. The National Cybercrime Unit seeks to use the modern technology available to monitor these offenders.
Moreover, this association also helps improve the readiness of the operations and support national efforts against the fraudsters. The National Cybercrime Unit is a specialized unit investigating any unauthorized access and cybercrime.
The unit carries out its operations under its legal mandate in direct collaboration with judicial and prosecutorial offices. This association will help the National Cybercrime Unit gain valuable information and analysis tools. This public-private strategy will ultimately ensure digital safety and protect the regional infrastructure from future cyberattacks.
