Box Expands Box Zones to Three New Regions for Enhanced Data Governance and Control

Box Zones

Box Zones has extended its geographical presence by introducing new regional Zones in Switzerland, Israel, and Singapore. Moreover, the Zones in France and Canada were upgraded with more compute capability within the region. Thus, businesses will be able to secure their data residency, achieve regional compliance, and data security.

Box Zones Expansion Improves Compliance and Regional Data Security

With these updates, Box Zones currently operates out of 10 locations around the world. These include Australia, Canada, the European Union, France, Israel, Japan, Singapore, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Moreover, storage, content processing, file encryption, and key compute activities now remain within each selected region.

“As an agency serving major German enterprises across automotive, insurance, banking, and manufacturing, we need to work in a way that reflects our customers’ data residency and security requirements,” said Frank Schöne, Director IT & Technical Director Newsroom, at C3 Creative Code and Content GmbH. “Box Zones helps us do that in our day-to-day collaboration.”

“Data residency has become a non-negotiable business decision for multinational enterprises and regulated industries,” said Samantha Wessels, SVP EMEA at Box. “In general, we are focused on ensuring Box is meeting the evolving needs of our global customers. With these new Box Zones investments, we’re giving our customers more choice over where their content, metadata, and AI-powered workflows are handled, while preserving the simplicity, security, and collaboration that Box delivers globally.”

Organizations continue to face stricter data residency and governance regulations worldwide. Therefore, Box Zones allows customers to store and manage content within regional boundaries. They can choose their preferred zones, assign the user to Zones, and ensure that there is a unified Box environment. This means that companies will be able to enable collaboration securely without having to establish multiple data silos.

In addition to that, Box helps its customers with Box KeySafe, Box Governance, Box Archive, Box Shield, and Shield Pro. Moreover, Box will offer in-region metadata storage and Box AI processing in the coming months.
