F5 AI Security Platform Introduced to Strengthen Enterprise AI Protection

AI Security Platform

F5 AI Security Platform has been launched to help organizations manage enterprise AI risks with improved visibility, governance, and protection. The global leader in delivering and securing every app and API introduced the new platform to support security leaders in protecting AI applications, models, agents, and connected APIs.

The company also announced the acquisition of SurePath AI, a specialist in network-based AI discovery, intent classification, and shadow AI detection. The acquisition strengthens the capabilities of the F5 AI Security Platform and supports organizations in securing expanding AI environments.

The new F5 AI Security Platform extends F5’s Application Delivery and Security Platform (ADSP) strategy into enterprise AI security. Furthermore, it provides continuous governance, discovery, testing, and protection for AI workloads across different deployment environments.

The platform supports on-premises, air-gapped, private cloud, hybrid cloud, and public cloud environments. Hence, enterprises can maintain control over AI security while meeting strict data residency requirements

F5 AI Security Platform Addresses Emerging AI Risks

AI systems now operate with greater access and speed than the digital applications. As a result, security teams face new challenges involving unauthorized access, data exposure, and uncontrolled AI behavior.

A prompt injection attack or unauthorized agent action can expose sensitive information. Additionally, these risks can impact business operations and customer trust.

At the same time, employees increasingly use unauthorized AI tools and integrations. Consequently, organizations develop shadow AI environments that security teams cannot easily identify or manage.

According to F5’s 2026 State of Application Strategy (SOAS) Report, 88% of organizations experience at least one AI-related operational or security challenge.

“Most AI security today is a wrapper around a chatbot. That is not security,” said Kunal Anand, Chief Product Officer, F5. “Enterprises run AI inside regulated networks, behind APIs, and across agents that authenticate and act on their own. The F5 AI Security Platform gives CISOs and security leaders what they have been missing: continuous control over every model, agent, and API, wherever the AI runs, delivered on the same F5 platform that has secured and delivered enterprise applications for three decades.”

SurePath AI Improves Enterprise AI Visibility

The integration of SurePath AI strengthens the F5 AI Security Platform by improving network-based AI discovery capabilities. It identifies AI usage throughout enterprise environments, including shadow AI activities, without requiring direct application integrations.

Moreover, SurePath AI uses network redirects and out-of-band analysis to provide security teams with a unified visibility layer. This capability detects unauthorized AI usage, identifies workflow intent, and tracks agent tool calls and MCP server connections.

The collected visibility data supports the platform’s security process. Therefore, organizations can identify risks through F5 AI Red Team testing and apply protections through F5 AI Guardrails.

Continuous AI Protection Through Integrated Security Features

The F5 AI Security Platform creates a continuous security lifecycle through integrated capabilities and an observability layer. The platform focuses on five major areas, including AI governance, AI discovery, AI security testing, AI runtime protection, and AI observability.

AI governance allows organizations to convert risk policies, privacy requirements, and regulatory needs into enforceable controls. These controls manage AI prompts, outputs, tool usage, and data access.

AI discovery provides continuous visibility into AI applications, agents, and MCP tool calls across enterprise environments. Additionally, it classifies activities based on use cases and intent.

AI security testing evaluates AI systems against more than 140,000 attack patterns from the industry’s AI threat database. This approach helps organizations identify vulnerabilities before production deployment.

AI runtime protection enables teams to create security guardrails using simple language. The platform applies these protections during AI interactions and helps prevent prompt injection, excessive agent autonomy, and data leakage.

AI observability maintains complete audit trails across AI interactions. Therefore, regulated industries can achieve stronger accountability and traceability.

Business Needs Flexibility in AI Security Deployment

F5 offers deployment flexibility and AI security capabilities. This enables organizations to secure AI environments across on-premises, private cloud, hybrid cloud, public cloud, and air-gapped infrastructures.

This flexibility helps industries with strict compliance requirements and complex data management. SurePath AI’s deployment model, which uses a light-weight network, leads to less operational disruption as it does not require any change to the application architecture.

The adoption of AI agents is growing across enterprises. F5’s 2026 SOAS Report says 98% of organizations are preparing for agentic AI. Adoption is moving faster than existing security controls.

As AI agents become more capable of authenticating themselves, accessing information, invoking tools and taking actions on their own, the security risks increase dramatically. Enterprises need advanced AI security platforms to ensure visibility, control and protection across evolving AI ecosystems.
