Jacobs Secures Scottish & Southern Electricity’s frameworks to Advance UK Energy Cybersecurity and Digital Transformation

UK Energy Cybersecurity

UK Energy Cybersecurity continues to gain attention as Jacobs secured several strategic frameworks from SSEN Transmission. These agreements support modernization, resilience, and digital transformation across the electricity transmission network in northern Scotland.

Together, the frameworks have a potential value of more than $1 billion. The scope includes operational technology cybersecurity, digital services, and substation design. In turn, the work will help strengthen grid resilience and support wider renewable energy integration across the United Kingdom.

Jacobs, alongside PA Consulting, earned places on SSEN’s Digital and Operational Technology Cyber Security Frameworks. Through these appointments, the company will support key priorities across an energy network that is becoming increasingly digital.

“These awards reflect the accelerating digitization of energy systems and the growing need for integrated cybersecurity, digital and engineering solutions. As grid infrastructure becomes more interconnected and data-driven, embedding cybersecurity across IT and operational technology environments is essential to supporting grid expansion, enables greater renewable energy integration and delivers smarter, more resilient operations.” said Bob Pragada, Chair and CEO of Jacobs.

Supporting Grid Resilience Through Digital Innovation

Under the Operational Technology framework, Jacobs will help design, deploy, and assure secure operational technology environments. The work also includes cyber-by-design practices, network segmentation, and real-time threat monitoring. These capabilities will help safeguard critical infrastructure while supporting dependable operations.

Under the Digital Services framework, Jacobs will introduce AI-enabled digital and data solutions across SSEN’s network. The technologies will also support the RIIO-T3 transformation program and Scotland’s long-term energy transition objectives.

The program is expected to improve asset management, support network expansion, and advance decarbonization efforts. It will also create a scalable digital foundation for future transmission infrastructure.

The framework awards demonstrate Jacobs’ ability to bring together engineering, cybersecurity, and digital capabilities. Teams from Energy & Power, Program Advisory, Digital & Data, and PA Consulting will work together to deliver integrated solutions for complex infrastructure programs around the world.
